White canvas tarps and the importance of color.
When shopping for a canvas tarps, you're going to have to make a number of choices on everything from material to coating to size to color. Now, you're probably going to be asking yourself... Who cares what color it is, right? Does it matter if it's a white canvas tarp?
Well the fact of the matter is that color actually does have an effect on your tarp in terms of how long the canvas lasts, how effective it is and so on. Here are just a few things that the color of a white tarp can do to help you out. If you live in a sunny area and use a darker color like green canvas tarps, the sun might damage the green canvas more than the white canvas.
White Canvas Tarps And Protection
If you're using a white canvas tarp to protect yourself from the elements whether camping or setting up at a flea market or whatever you're doing, then white can actually help. How? Well, assuming you're only protecting yourself from rain or snow, it doesn't matter. But if you're trying to stay protected from the harsh sun, well, the white will help by reflecting the sunlight, and hence, the heat. It simply won't warm up so fast, plain and simple.
White Canvas Tarp Durability
For the same reason, a white canvas tarp might wind up lasting considerably longer than one of a darker color, which will be just as tortured and tested by the heat and the sun as yourself. By being able to reflect the heat, the tarp is less likely to suffer from it, simple as that.
White Canvas Tarp Visibility Issues
In some cases, the color can come in handy simply because of, well, what color it is. Say you're hunting and you need to perch to do some shooting. In the summer, you'd use a camouflage tarp, but in the winter, in the snow, a white one would come more in handy, right? Well, that's pretty much what it comes down to when you're buying a white tarp. In other words, every color of tarp is useful for some reason or other. The green canvas would be a better choice if you want your tarp to blend into the outdoor environment.
