Ideal Uses of Blue Canvas Tarps

Blue canvas tarps are sturdy, breathable and eco-friendly. They are great outdoor covers which you can use long-term. The material may have its limitations but there are certainly situations that call for the need of these tarps.

Do you have water-themed art projects? These blue canvas tarps would be great for your plans. Whether the project is big or small, we have a variety of sizes that will accommodate your needs.

While it can be used for various applications, remember that blue canvas tarps are dyed and treated with waterproofing wax. Do not use them on vehicles and boats because the color might bleed on the surface of your property. The wax also might wear off. These are also not recommended for indoor use. They have an odor which can be a minor nuisance inside your home. The dye also might stain your furniture.

Qualities of Blue Canvas Tarps

Blue canvas tarps are thick and heavy-duty. They may be more expensive than poly tarps, but you get longer-lasting covers which can be used continuously.

The grommets allow you to secure the tarp in place.

Remember that blue canvas tarps will eventually shrink or stretch as with any typical cotton material. How fast they will deform depends on how often they are exposed to damaging elements. That’s why we don’t recommend them as canopy accessories (top cover and sidewalls).

Blue canvas tarps have a smell which comes from their treatments. This odor eventually disappears as you keep on using the tarp.

Blue canvas tarps are only water repellent. They can still give water protection until they reach their saturation point. Before this happens, you need to replace the blue canvas tarp with a waterproof one to avoid water leakage.

Proper maintenance is necessary for blue canvas tarps. They can be re-treated when their protective properties wear off. They also need to be cleaned using a special time of soap of detergent so the dye will not bleed and the wax will not wear off. Do not machine wash these tarps.
